About the Recipe

These are MillionDollarDelia cookies—rich, nostalgic, and made with real ingredients that don’t leave you feeling wrecked afterward.

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 1¼ cups organic unbleached all-purpose flour

  • ½ tsp aluminum-free baking soda

  • ¼ tsp mineral-rich sea salt

  • 1 Tbsp chia seeds (ground preferred for better binding but I like them whole)

Wet Ingredients

  • ½ cup grass-fed butter, softened

  • ⅓ cup organic coconut sugar

  • ¼ cup organic cane sugar

  • 1 pasture-raised egg

  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract

Mix-ins

  • ¾ cup organic dark chocolate chips (60–70%)

Optional upgrades:

  • 1 Tbsp chia seeds or ground flax

  • Flaky sea salt for topping

  • ¼ cup chopped walnuts or pecans

🥖 Optional: Sourdough Discard Version

If using sourdough discard:

  • Reduce flour to 1 cup

  • Add ¼ cup sourdough discard (100% hydration)

If using sourdough discard, reduce flour by ¼ cup (already reflected above). Discard adds depth, digestibility, and a subtle richness without making the cookies taste “sour.”

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  3. Mix dry ingredients

In a medium bowl, whisk together:

    • Flour

    • Baking soda

    • Sea salt

    • Chia seeds

  4. Cream butter and sugars

In a large bowl, beat softened butter with coconut sugar and cane sugar until light and fluffy (about 1–2 minutes).

  5. Add wet ingredients

Mix in the egg and vanilla until fully incorporated.

Optional: add sourdough discard

If using discard, gently fold it in now until smooth.

  1. Combine wet and dry

Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients.

Mix just until combined—do not overmix.

  2. Fold in chocolate chips

    Stir gently to distribute evenly.

  3. Scoop cookies

Scoop 2 Tbsp dough per cookie and place on baking sheet, spacing 2–3 inches apart.

Lightly press tops if you prefer flatter cookies.

  4. Bake

Bake for 10–12 minutes, until edges are set and centers look slightly soft.

  5. Cool

Let cookies rest on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

✨ Million Dollar Tips

  • Soft-bake secret: pull cookies when centers look slightly underdone

  • No-spread: chill dough 20 minutes if your kitchen is warm

  • Dairy-free: use coconut oil + dairy-free chocolate

  • Make-ahead: freeze dough balls up to 3 months

🙏 Why They’re “Million Dollar”

Because comfort food should feel abundant, grounding, and joyful—not filled with mystery ingredients.
