About the Recipe

This is a MillionDollarDelia-style yam dish—rich and comforting without the sugar crash. Naturally sweet, anti-inflammatory, and perfect for everyday dinners or holiday tables.

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 3½–4 lb yams or sweet potatoes, peeled & cut into 1½-inch chunks

  • 3 Tbsp grass-fed butter or coconut oil

  • ¼ cup pure maple syrup (or raw honey)

  • ½ cup full-fat coconut milk or heavy cream

  • 1½ tsp cinnamon

  • ¼ tsp nutmeg

  • ¼ tsp ground ginger

  • ½ tsp sea salt

  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract

  • Optional topping:

    • ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts

    • Pinch of sea salt for finishing

Preparation

Instructions

1. Cook the yams

  • Place yams in a large pot, cover with water, add a pinch of salt.

  • Bring to a boil, reduce to simmer, and cook 15–18 minutes until fork-tender.

  • Drain well.

2. Mash & enrich

  • Return yams to the pot or a large bowl.

  • Add butter, coconut milk, maple syrup, spices, salt, and vanilla.

  • Mash until creamy but still textured (don’t over-purée).

3. Bake (optional but recommended)

  • Transfer to a greased baking dish.

  • Sprinkle nuts on top if using.

  • Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20–25 minutes, until lightly golden and bubbling.

✨ Million Dollar Tips

  • Blood-sugar friendly: add 1 Tbsp collagen peptides or gelatin (optional, flavorless).

  • Dairy-free: coconut oil + coconut milk works beautifully.

  • Extra glow: finish with a drizzle of maple syrup + flaky sea salt before serving.
